Foundation Mission

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation, Inc., is a private, non-profit corporation whose sole purpose is to further the cultural and scientific programs and purposes of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science. The Foundation’s objectives are to receive, raise and administer funds for the benefit of the Museum and to provide the Museum with a widespread base of support.

The Foundation provides many services that support the Museum’s research and outreach mission including: financial and marketing services, travel programs, several revenue-generating enterprises and development activities. Corporations, foundations and individuals throughout New Mexico continue to demonstrate financial commitment to the Museum, and the Foundation serves as the liaison between the Museum and donors. The Development Department conducts several activities in order to help facilitate the giving process.

Funds raised by special events benefit the Foundation and its efforts to support programs at the Museum. The annual gala black-tie fundraiser Chocolate Fantasy has become one of the premier parties in New Mexico. Mouth-watering chocolate creations by some of New Mexico’s finest chefs highlight the evening. A silent auction helps to raise a substantial amount of funds that ultimately go to further the cultural and scientific programs of the Museum.
