Updated Spring 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern participation in the membership program administered by the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation (“Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science. By purchasing, renewing, or using a membership, the member agrees to the following:

1. MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY & HOUSEHOLD DEFINITION

Employees of post-secondary institutions, tutoring centers, homeschool programs, or educational vendors do not qualify for Educator pricing unless explicitly approved by the Foundation.

Valid school ID may be requested at any time during the membership’s active period

AUTO-RENEWAL DISCOUNT

The Foundation offers an automatic renewal option to provide uninterrupted membership access and administrative convenience. Members who enroll in automatic renewal authorize the Foundation to charge the designated payment method automatically at the time of membership renewal. In recognition of this authorization, eligible memberships receive a five-dollar ($5.00) auto-renewal discount per renewal cycle. The auto-renewal discount applies only to Standard memberships categories for memberships successfully renewed through automatic charges and has no cash value.

Authorization and Billing

By enrolling in automatic renewal, the member authorizes the Foundation to initiate recurring charges to the provided payment method for the applicable membership dues at the time of renewal. Charges will be attempted on or shortly after the membership expiration date, in accordance with the Foundation’s renewal schedule. It is the member’s responsibility to maintain current and valid payment information.

Failed Payments and Termination of Auto-Renewal

If an automatic renewal charge is declined, the Foundation may reattempt the charge in accordance with its payment processing procedures. The Foundation reserves the right to suspend recurring charge privileges, terminate a membership, or refuse future membership in cases of repeated declined charges, invalid payment methods, or payment-related misuse. Memberships with unresolved declined charges may enter Lapsed or Dropped status, without notice, in accordance with the Membership Status Definitions.

Right to Refuse Renewal

The Foundation reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse renewal or terminate a membership if repeated payment failures occur or if continued auto-renewal creates an unreasonable administrative burden. Termination or refusal of renewal does not relieve the member of responsibility for any outstanding balances or dues owed to the Foundation.

Cancellation of Auto-Renewal

Members may cancel automatic renewal at any time prior to the renewal date by contacting the Foundation. Cancellation of auto-renewal does not cancel the existing membership, which remains active through its current expiration date.

6. MEMBERSHIP TERM & EXPIRATION

Memberships become effective on the date of purchase or renewal and remain valid for one (1) calendar year.
(For example: a membership purchased on July 1, 2026 will be Active through June 30, 2027, and a membership purchased on July 14, 2026 will be Active through July 13, 2027, and so on.)

7. MEMBERSHIP STATUS DEFINITIONS

For administrative, operational, and member-facing purposes, the Foundation defines membership status as follows:

ACTIVE

A membership is considered Active from the effective date of purchase or renewal through the last day of the expiration month. Active members are entitled to all benefits associated with their membership level.

LAPSED

A membership enters Lapsed status immediately following expiration and remains in lapsed status for a four (4) week grace period. During this period, benefits may be limited or suspended at the Foundation’s discretion. A renewal transaction completed during the lapsed period restores the membership to Active status in accordance with current renewal policies.

DROPPED

A membership is considered Dropped immediately following the conclusion of the four (4) week lapsed period if no renewal transaction exists. Dropped memberships are not entitled to any benefits and require the purchase of a new membership to re-establish Active status.

8. RENEWALS & REJOINING AFTER DROPPED STATUS

Memberships may be renewed prior to expiration, during the lapsed period, or after being dropped. Renewal timing affects membership status and benefit continuity but does not retroactively extend expired benefits unless explicitly stated by the Foundation. Renewals completed after a membership has been dropped are classified as ‘Rejoin’ memberships for administrative and reporting purposes.

9. EXTENSIONS & SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

The Foundation may, at their sole discretion, extend membership expiration dates in response to extraordinary circumstances such as prolonged Museum closures or operational disruptions. Any such extensions apply only to eligible memberships and will be communicated directly to members or publicly posted.

10. MEMBER CONDUCT

Members are expected to comply with all Museum policies and conduct themselves in a respectful and lawful manner while visiting the Museum or attending Foundation-sponsored events. The Foundation reserves the right to revoke membership privileges, without refund, for conduct that endangers people, property, or the visitor experience.

11. CHANGES TO THE MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM

The Foundation reserves the right to modify membership levels, pricing, benefits, expiration rules, and these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated publicly through the Foundation’s website or official member communications.

12. PRIVACY & COMMUNICATIONS

Member information is collected and used in accordance with the Foundation’s Privacy Policy. By enrolling, members consent to receive membership-related communications, including renewal reminders, benefit updates, and program announcements. Members may opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

13. REFUND POLICY

Membership dues are generally non-refundable. Exceptions may be granted at the sole discretion of the Foundation in cases of administrative error or other extraordinary circumstances.

14. DELIVERY OF MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS AND MATERIALS

Beginning in 2026, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation administers membership benefits and communications through a digital-first delivery model.

PRIMARY METHOD OF DELIVERY

Membership benefits, including proof of membership, admission access, and benefit verification, are delivered primarily through a third-party digital membership platform designated by the Foundation. Upon purchase or renewal, members will receive digital access to their membership credentials and benefits through this platform. Members are responsible for providing and maintaining accurate contact information, including a valid email address, to ensure uninterrupted access to digital membership materials.

DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP CREDENTIALS

Digital membership credentials, or digital membership ‘cards,’ serve as the primary and preferred form of proof of membership and may be presented electronically for admission, discounts, and other member benefits. Digital credentials may include, but are not limited to, mobile-accessible membership cards, QR codes, or account-based verification. The Foundation reserves the right to update or change its digital membership platform as needed without materially altering member benefits.

PHYSICAL MEMBERSHIP MATERIALS

Physical membership cards, printed materials, and mailed welcome packets are not provided by default. Physical materials may be issued only upon explicit request and at the discretion of the Foundation, subject to availability and operational considerations. Requests for physical materials may require additional processing time and may not be available for all membership levels.

COMMUNICATIONS AND NOTICES

Membership communications, including renewal reminders, benefit updates, event invitations, and policy changes, are delivered primarily via email or digital notifications associated with the membership platform. Members who opt out of non-essential communications may still receive required transactional or administrative messages related to their membership.

RESPONSIBILITY AND LIMITATIONS

The Foundation is not responsible for access issues resulting from outdated contact information, incompatible devices, or third-party platform outages beyond its reasonable control. Members experiencing access issues are encouraged to contact the Foundation for assistance.

15. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of the State of New Mexico.
